Parked for free through computer fraud: 22-year-old from Mala Rečica arrested in Tetovo

Someone in Tetovo found a way to park without paying - not with a fake number plate, but with a computer. On Tuesday (October 13) at 8:15 pm, police from the Tetovo Interior Affairs Sector detained 22-year-old E.Š. from the village of Mala Rečica on suspicion of "computer fraud" under Article 251-b of the Criminal Code.

According to the Interior Ministry, he is suspected of using a parking service in Tetovo for a certain period without paying for it, by means of computer fraud. He is being held at a police station, and once the case is fully documented, the Ministry says, a criminal complaint will follow.

How long it went on, how many parking sessions and how much money is involved - not a word in the police bulletin. Yet those are exactly the numbers that will show whether this is a young man who saved himself a few hundred denars, or a hole that anyone who knows a bit more than the average driver could have slipped through.

Zone parking is a system that drivers in Tetovo pay for every day. If one 22-year-old managed to get around it, the question isn't just what happens to him. The question is who maintains that system, who protects it - and how many others never got caught?
