Aries

Today Aries will be the first to apologise in an argument with a brother - and won't add a "but" at the end of the sentence. The brother will go quiet, because he'll be waiting for the rest. There won't be any rest. Ten minutes later they'll be talking about the match as if nothing happened.

Taurus

Today, on the lunch break, Taurus will book a weekend in Ohrid for the end of the month - in one minute, on the first website that opens. Then they'll spend the whole afternoon wondering what came over them. They'll find the answer on Saturday morning, on the lakeside promenade, with a coffee and no crowds.

Gemini

Today Gemini should close all twenty-three browser tabs without saving them "for later". Some have been open since September. By evening they won't remember a single one, and for the first time in ages the computer will stop whirring.

Cancer

Today Cancer will buy a fridge in ten minutes: open it, look at the shelves, ask about the warranty and pay. The salesperson will have another half-hour explanation of energy classes ready to go. It won't be needed.

Leo

Today Leo will lose a bet on the match and pay up before their friend even mentions it. No talk of the referee, the injuries or the bad pitch. The coffee they pay for will be the sweetest of their week.

Virgo

Today Virgo should leave the dishes in the sink until tomorrow morning. The world will survive, and so will she.

Libra

Today Libra will go to give blood - for the first time, despite saying for years she'd go "when she has the time". The nurse will tell her to look the other way. Libra will look straight at the bag and be surprised how calm she is. She'll eat the chocolate she gets afterwards slowly, on the bench outside the hospital.

Scorpio

Today Scorpio will lend a colleague her favourite book - the one with notes in the margins. She won't ask when she'll get it back. She'll watch it disappear into someone else's bag and be surprised that it doesn't hurt.

Sagittarius

Today, in the doctor's waiting room, Sagittarius will do the crossword in a newspaper someone left on a chair. Just one word will be missing - a river in Siberia, five letters. They won't look it up on their phone. They'll ask the old man next to them, who'll know it without looking up.

Capricorn

Today at five o'clock Capricorn will shut down the computer and go home, even though the boss is still in the office. Nobody will say a thing. The work will be waiting tomorrow right where they left it. Since when is work measured in hours spent in the chair, rather than in what gets done?

Aquarius

Today Aquarius will photograph the three jackets she bought on sale and never wore - tags still on - and put them up for sale online. The first message will arrive within half an hour: "Lowest price?" Aquarius will repeat the price from the listing.

Pisces

Today Pisces will teach their grandmother how to make a video call. On the first call, all you'll see is her chin and the ceiling. On the second - just an ear. On the third she'll appear in full on the screen, smile, and first ask whether they've eaten.
