If the nineties had a soundtrack for every school party in the Balkans, it surely included at least one 2 Unlimited song. On 31 October, Halloween night, the project is the special guest at the Back to the 90's night at the Joy Station club in Sofia, which the organisers are billing as a "Halloween Thriller" under the motto 35 years on stage.
2 Unlimited was created by producers Jean-Paul De Coster and Phil Wilde in Antwerp in 1991, and fronted on stage by Dutch rapper Ray Slijngaard and singer Anita Doth. "Get Ready for This" and "Twilight Zone" reached No. 2 in the UK charts, and "No Limit" went to No. 1 in ten countries, including Britain. The albums "No Limits!" and "Real Things" also topped the UK albums chart, and the project has sixteen international hits and around 18 million records sold.
The line-up has changed over the years. Anita Doth stepped away, and Slijngaard stayed on as the face of the project, with a new singer at his side. Before and after their set, Dian Solo and DJ Doncho take the decks with a set dedicated to the nineties. Is Eurodance nostalgia, or a genre that never died? On 31 October, the dance floor will answer.
Tickets on eventim.bg cost 41 euros, about 2,530 denars, and doors open at 6 pm. For readers in Macedonia weighing up a weekend in Sofia: 31 October falls on a Saturday.
