Ana Moura, one of the greatest contemporary names of Portuguese fado, returns to Sofia after eleven years. On November 17 she will perform in Hall 3 of the NDK with a concert that brings both her classic fado renditions and material from her latest album "Casa Guilhermina".
Fado is the traditional Portuguese musical genre marked by melancholy, longing and the feeling the Portuguese call "saudade" - a hard-to-translate nostalgia for something lost. Ana Moura is among the few who have managed to carry this centuries-old genre onto the world stage without betraying it. She is the youngest fado singer ever nominated for the Dutch Edison award, and her voice, deep and warm, made her an ambassador of Portuguese music around the world.
Moura's career exceeds the borders of fado itself. She has collaborated with names from the world's very top - she has performed with The Rolling Stones and Prince, which for a fado performer is a rarity and a confirmation of her status. On the new album "Casa Guilhermina" she expands the sound towards more contemporary production, while still keeping the emotion that defines the genre.
Tickets are available via ticketstation.bg. The concert is in Hall 3 of the NDK in Sofia. For audiences from the region who want something different from the usual pop and rock events, this is a rare chance to hear authentic fado live, just a few hours from Macedonia.
