Three crossings, one hour

On 18 August, between 15:00 and 16:00, the three border crossings into Greece produced completely different numbers on the way out. At Bogorodica the average wait that hour was 109 minutes, at Star Dojran 20, and at Medzitlija 10. Each figure is an average of the readings taken during that hour - eleven at Bogorodica and Star Dojran, twelve at Medzitlija.

Why the number moves during the hour

A border wait is not a single value that holds for an hour. Readings are collected every few minutes and combined into an hourly average, so the number on the Greece guide keeps shifting while the hour runs. That is why a completed hour is used here - it no longer changes.

The cameras are public

The footage from all three crossings comes from the cameras operated by the Public Enterprise for State Roads, which are published openly and embedded in the guide. Each frame carries its own timestamp, so anyone can check what the camera showed at the moment of capture.

What is on metla.mk

Alongside the live cameras, the guide carries hour-by-hour waits for every crossing in both directions, a seven-day forecast, and a breakdown of the sources behind each number. Worth a look before you set off - the gap between two crossings in the same afternoon can exceed an hour and a half.
