At 9:30 yesterday, police detained 26-year-old C.A., who was wanted under a nationwide arrest warrant issued on 6 August by Skopje 1 Basic Court and a nationwide wanted notice issued by the Skopje Interior Affairs Sector on 17 April. The operation was carried out by officers from the Sector for International Police Cooperation, in coordination with the Rapid Deployment Police Unit of the Skopje Interior Affairs Sector. Place of arrest: the yard of his own home.

The warrant is under Article 258, paragraph 1, in connection with Article 22 of the Criminal Code, for extortion as a co-perpetrator, with detention ordered. The wanted notice is for an offence under Article 386, paragraph 6 - aggravated violence, which covers cases where the violence caused serious bodily injury or death. C.A. was handed over to the Gazi Baba police station for further proceedings.

The press release says nothing about where the suspect had been for the past five months. Was he abroad, as the involvement of the Sector for International Police Cooperation might suggest, or was he at his own address the whole time? If it's the latter, five months of waiting is a question for the police, not for the suspect.

It's now in the hands of the judiciary. Whether he is guilty of what he is wanted for is for the court to decide.
