Toody Cole, bassist, singer and co-founder of the Portland garage punk band Dead Moon, plays Mixtape 5 in Sofia on December 6, 2026. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show is organised by the Sofia label Threechords Records.

Toody only started playing bass at 30, and was later ranked among the twenty best punk rock bassists of all time. At 18 she met Fred Cole, and stayed with him for almost 50 years, until his death in 2017. Together they became the very symbol of DIY rock'n'roll: they recorded albums in a spare room on second-hand gear, mastered and pressed the records themselves, ran their own label and shop, and booked their own tours.

After the deaths of Fred and drummer Andrew Loomis, Toody keeps the Dead Moon legacy going with a new band featuring Kelly Halliburton of Pierced Arrows on drums and Christopher March of Jenny Don't and The Spurs. For the organisers, who say Dead Moon sits at the core of their musical identity, this is a dream come true.

The night opens with Jenny Don't & The Spurs, a country-western outfit founded in Portland in the winter of 2012. Tickets on bilet.bg cost 20 euros, roughly 1,230 denars. The same tour also passes through Zagreb and Belgrade.
