Avantasia, the German power-metal and symphonic-metal project led by Tobias Sammet (the frontman of Edguy), comes to Sofia on June 10, 2026. The concert will take place at ASICS Arena (Festivalna Hall), as part of the Here Be Dragons summer tour supporting the 2025 album.
The project has been active since 1999, when Sammet launched it as a metal-opera side experiment - concept albums with rotating guest vocalists from the world's power-metal scene. Past Avantasia guests include Michael Kiske (Helloween), Andre Matos, Bob Catley (Magnum), Jorn Lande, Alice Cooper, Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Tony Kakko (Stratovarius) and many others. With 10 studio albums and an estimated 2 million records sold, the project is a major influence in the symphonic-metal genre.
The Here Be Dragons setlist covers songs from every phase of the project, with rotating guest vocalists travelling with Sammet. The shows are known as large productions with several singers on stage at once - in line with the project's operatic identity. ASICS Arena has a capacity of 4,500 and is laid out as a large concert hall.
Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 92 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. For Macedonian fans of power metal and metal opera, this is one of the key dates in the neighbourhood.
