Cavalera Conspiracy, the Brazilian-American heavy metal supergroup led by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, founders of Sepultura, will play Dorćol Platz in Belgrade on July 14. This is one of the rare chances for a Balkan metal crowd to see the Cavalera brothers perform classic Sepultura tracks live, as part of the current world tour built around their newly re-recorded versions of those albums.
Max and Igor founded Sepultura in Belo Horizonte in 1984 as teenagers, and the band became one of the most influential acts in thrash and death metal. After the death of Max's stepson in 1996 and disputes inside the band, Max left Sepultura the same year - triggering a decade-long rift between the brothers. Igor stayed in Sepultura until January 2006 when he too walked out, and the two brothers founded Cavalera Conspiracy in 2007. By then Max had already started Soulfly, which had released nine studio albums and become a major metal force in the 2000s.
Cavalera Conspiracy released four albums - Inflikted (2008), Blunt Force Trauma (2011), Pandemonium (2014) and Psychosis (2017). Since 2022 the band has performed simply as Cavalera and has been issuing re-recordings of the classic 80s Sepultura albums. The Dorćol Platz set will mix early Sepultura material with the band's own catalog. The brothers recently declined an invitation to play the final Sepultura concert - they only play under their own name now.
The show starts at 20:00 at Dorćol Platz, an open-air venue in central Belgrade known for summer metal and alternative rock events. Tickets are sold via tickets.rs.
