Chambao, the Spanish musical project that defined the flamenco-chillout category, comes to Burgas on June 25, 2026. The concert will take place at the Summer Theatre, as part of their summer tour along the Black Sea coast.
The band was formed in 2002 in Malaga, Spain, as an experiment combining classic flamenco (gitana vocals, Spanish guitar) with chillout and electronic rhythms. The lead vocalist is Maria del Mar Rodriguez (Mayte), whose voice is recognised for its Balkan-Arabic melismas in a flamenco style. The hits Pokito A Poko, Ahi Estas Tu, Papeles Mojados and Como Lo Llevas tu made the band one of the most recognisable names of the Mediterranean alternative sound of the 2000s. With nine studio albums and an estimated 2 million records sold, they have cult status in the Spanish-speaking world.
The setlist covers all the major hits together with material from the latest album En La Vida. The style fits a summer stage on the coast - gentle, melodic, with flamenco accents and an electronic underlay. The Burgas Summer Theatre is one of the loveliest summer stages on the Black Sea coast.
Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 60 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Burgas is a destination in its own right - the combination of a concert and a short break by the Black Sea makes a great summer programme for Macedonian fans of Mediterranean flamenco.
