Atlético 2:0, Lisandro against the board, and Conte on the horizon

Manchester United conceded after 50 seconds in Madrid. Pablo Barrios opened the scoring before the visitors had even settled, Leny Yoro was shown a red card after a VAR review, and Ademola Lookman sealed the final 2:0 for Atlético. After the match Lisandro Martínez openly attacked the board and technical director Jason Wilcox: it's easy to blame the manager and the players, he said, but other parts of the club have to be looked at too. At the same time, an Italian sports outlet claims United are already in talks with Antonio Conte to replace Michael Carrick. Six points from six games and 13th place in the Premier League - with numbers like that, every statement of support for the manager sounds like a pause before the sack. Conte is 57, has 11 major trophies and a habit of falling out with both players and owners, more than once. Is that the cure Old Trafford needs, or just one more expensive change on the bench?

Infantino and the 1.3 million pounds missing from the report

US tax documents show that FWC2026 US Inc, the FIFA subsidiary organising the 2026 World Cup, paid Gianni Infantino 1.76 million dollars (1.3 million pounds) in 2024. That sum is missing from FIFA's annual report, even though the statutes require the president's salary to be public. Officially, Infantino earned 4.27 million Swiss francs that year. The former chair of the governance committee, Miguel Maduro, says this is "a clear breach of the rules" and is calling for an investigation. FIFA replies that the salary is set by one of its subcommittees and that everything was declared to the US authorities. On Thursday the FIFA Council meets in Zurich, and also on the table is the "peace prize" Infantino awarded to Donald Trump without first asking the Council. There is no rival candidate at the next election. So who will ask him about the accounts?

Ten arrested after Anfield, and City host PSG tonight

Manchester City's 3:0 win at Anfield has a second side, the one in the police report: ten arrests and a police officer with a serious facial injury on Anfield Road. Five were arrested for chants mocking the victims of tragedies, including the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 97 Liverpool fans died. "The tragic loss of life must never be a subject for tribal point-scoring," said Chief Inspector Leanne Hobin. Tonight at the Etihad City host Luis Enrique's PSG, winners of the last two Champions League titles, who opened their campaign with a 6:1 against Slovan Bratislava. The last time they met, in January 2025, the Parisians won 4:2. City have the form - the question is whether it holds against a team that has carved up Europe two years running.

Gashtarov: 10 matches in 33 days and a spot in the team of the round

Macedonia international Matej Gashtarov made the ideal team of the 11th round of the Serbian SuperLiga, after Crvena Zvezda's convincing 3:0 away win at Radnički. Coach Albert Riera kept him on the pitch until the 79th minute, and his teammates Bamba Dieng and Stefan Gudelj are also in the team of the round. In an interview with a Serbian sports outlet, Gashtarov revealed the number that explains his autumn: 10 matches and 819 minutes in 33 days, for club and country. "Of course it's hard and the fatigue comes, but it's all in the head," he says. He arrived in Belgrade at 17 and for six months couldn't play because of paperwork. Today Riera calls his performance against Čukarički a masterclass, and Macedonia is getting a player who is growing up in front of one of the most demanding crowds in the region.

Champions League night: Barcelona calm Istanbul, Bayern stumble in Norway

Galatasaray promised to attack and did take the lead through Aleksey Batrakov in the 28th minute, but Barcelona answered with four goals for a 4:1: the scorers were João Cancelo, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, and Lamine Yamal had two assists. Coach Okan Buruk said before the match that he wouldn't sit back in defence - and he kept his word, at a price. In Norway, Viking took a point off Bayern (3:3), after Michael Olise, right after Bayern went 3:2 up, hit an opponent in the face with the ball and got a straight red card. Vincent Kompany admitted the blame was "100 percent" his player's. Inter lost 3:4 at home to Club Brugge, with a hat-trick from Nicolò Tresoldi, and Arsenal dispatched Lille 3:0. Who said there are no surprises in the new format?
