Dalmatino, one of the most popular Dalmatian pop acts, performs on July 17 at the Trsat fortress in Rijeka as part of "Summer on the Fortress". The group that has for years been synonymous with the modern Dalmatian sound arrives at the most striking open-air stage on the Kvarner.
Dalmatino were founded by Ivo Jagnjić and Zdravko Sunara in 1998. Their debut album "Cukar i sol" from 2001 sold over 30,000 copies and went platinum, and the group sparked a small revolution in Dalmatian pop music. For their start they also won the Porin award for new act of the year in 2002.
Behind the group's recognisable sound stands Ivo Jagnjić, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Split with a rich musical past - he played in the band Kineski zid with the brothers Dino and Din Dvornik, and then spent fourteen years as part of the Tutti Frutti Band. That schooling can be felt in Dalmatino's melodies, which blend Mediterranean softness with pop-rock arrangements and lyrics close to anyone who grew up by the Adriatic.
Tickets are available via ulaznice.hr. The concert is at the Trsat fortress above Rijeka, overlooking the sea - a setting made for Dalmatian music.
