Dara Bubamara takes the stage at The Jungle club in Korčula on 13 August. Thirty-three years after her first performance, the woman who started as a folk singer ends up as the outright queen of the Adriatic club scene. Few from her generation made that crossing without stumbling.

Radojka Adžić was born in Novi Sad in 1976. At twelve she represented Vojvodina at the Zmaj Children's Games and took first prize; two years later she won the competition for the most beautiful voice in Yugoslavia. Her career officially began in 1993, and national fame came with "Košava sa Dunava". Then came hits people still sing from memory - "Ja neću da ga vidim", "Svi su tu kao nekada", "Nit me ljubiš nit me drugom davaš". In 2011 she recorded "Galama" and "Noć za nas", both of which became hits across the Balkans.

That is the key to understanding why this night in Korčula is not an ordinary club gig. Dara does not live off nostalgia. She is one of the few who managed to move from the folk stage into the modern club spectacle without losing her audience along the way. On top of that, the same week she also plays the Diamond club on Krk - the Adriatic in August is her territory.

Tickets via entrio.hr run from around 105 to 1,340 denars, depending on the category. The event is in Korčula, the Dalmatian island packed in August with visitors from across the region. For anyone planning a summer route along the Croatian coast, this is one of those nights where the crowd knows every lyric better than the singer herself.
