Dire Straits Legacy at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on June 15 - the Official Continuation of Dire Straits With Members of the Original Band

Dire Straits Legacy vo Plovdiv na 15 juni

Dire Straits Legacy, the official continuation of the legendary British rock group Dire Straits with several original members, comes to the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on June 15, 2026. The concert continues with a show in Veliko Tarnovo on June 16.

The project was founded in 2011 by Alan Clark (keyboards) and Phil Palmer (guitar) - both active members of Dire Straits during the band's biggest albums, Brothers in Arms and On Every Street. They were later joined by Jack Sonni (saxophone, in the original Dire Straits from the Love Over Gold album), Mandy Morpet (bass) and Mel Collins (saxophone, King Crimson). The aim of the project is to keep the Dire Straits legacy alive in live performance with authentic members, without Mark Knopfler, who closed the original group in 1995.

The setlist is built from the classics - Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing, Walk of Life, So Far Away, Romeo and Juliet, Brothers in Arms - alongside lesser-known parts of the catalogue. The Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, with a capacity of 3,500, is one of the most impressive open-air stages in the Balkans, with great acoustics for the guitar-driven Dire Straits material.

Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 70 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Monday, June 15, 2026. The tour continues with a show in Veliko Tarnovo on June 16. For Macedonian fans of Dire Straits, this is the closest chance to hear the classics live in the neighbourhood.
