Dire Straits Legacy, the official continuation of the legendary British rock band Dire Straits with several original members, comes to Veliko Tarnovo on June 16, 2026. The concert takes place at the Summer Theatre, the day after the show at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv.

The project has been active since 2011 and was founded by Alan Clark (keyboards) and Phil Palmer (guitar) - both active members of Dire Straits during the Brothers in Arms and On Every Street era. The other members include Jack Sonni (saxophone, original Dire Straits), Mandy Morpet (bass) and Mel Collins (saxophone). The aim of the project is to keep the Dire Straits legacy alive in live performance with authentic members, without Mark Knopfler.

The setlist covers the classics - Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing, Walk of Life, So Far Away, Romeo and Juliet, Brothers in Arms. Veliko Tarnovo is one of Bulgaria's most historic cities (a former 12th-century capital), and the Summer Theatre offers an open-air stage with capacity for more than 1,500 at the foot of the Tsarevets fortress.

Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 60 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Veliko Tarnovo is a destination in its own right - the combination of a medieval city and a Dire Straits Legacy concert is one of the most attractive summer options in the Balkans this year.
