DJ Krush (real name Hideaki Ishi) is a Japanese producer and DJ from Tokyo, born in 1962 and widely regarded as a pioneer of trip-hop and abstract hip-hop. He started in the late 80s with the hip-hop crew B-FRESH3 on the streets of Harajuku, where he linked up with MURO and DJ GO, and the three of them later formed the group KRUSH POSSE. After the group split in 1992, he began the solo career that would go on to define the sound of Japanese turntablism.

His debut „KRUSH" (1994) and follow-up „Strictly Turntablized" (1994) - both released through the legendary British label Mo' Wax - launched him in Europe. „Meiso" (1995), „MiLight" (1996), „Kakusei" (1998) and the collaborative „Ki-Oku" (1996) with trumpeter Toshinori Kondo followed. As a remixer he has worked with Herbie Hancock, k.d. lang and Ronnie Jordan, and contributed to projects by Miles Davis, Pete Rock and Coldcut.

With shows in over 60 countries and 350 cities, plus stages at Glastonbury, Sonar and Coachella, DJ Krush is one of the most respected DJ names on the international electronic scene.
