Duran Duran, one of the most recognisable bands of the British new wave and synth-pop genre, come to Bulgaria for the first time on July 1, 2026. The concert will take place at Arena 8888 in Sofia, as part of their Future Past world tour.
The band has been active since 1978 in Birmingham and became one of the defining voices of the eighties with the hits Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, Save a Prayer, A View to a Kill (the title song of the 1985 James Bond film), Notorious and Ordinary World. With 16 studio albums and an estimated 100 million records sold, they are one of the most successful bands of the British invasion of the eighties. In 2022 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, confirming their status as a classic name in the genre.
The current tour's setlist covers all the major hits, along with material from the Future Past and Danse Macabre albums. The band is still active with most of the original members - singer Simon Le Bon, bassist John Taylor, drummer Roger Taylor and keyboardist Nick Rhodes. Arena 8888 is the largest indoor venue in Sofia, with a capacity of 15,000.
Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 168 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. For Macedonian fans of British synth-pop and the new wave of the eighties, this is a significant date - Duran Duran has not played in Skopje in recent decades.
