The Split band Funkblasters perform their new show "Ta divna splitska noć" ("That Wonderful Split Night") at Porat Club on October 9. The idea is clear: a night dedicated to the sound of Split, from disco and funk to pop and rock.
The title was not chosen at random. "Ta divna splitska noć" is also the name of the 2004 film starring Dino Dvornik, and his songs sit at the heart of the programme. Also on the list are Kineski zid, the funk outfit Dvornik founded with his brother Dean in 1982, and Grupa More, as well as other artists who shaped the urban sound of Split and Dalmatia. The band already plays its own version of "Ti si mi u mislima".
Funkblasters arrange the well-known songs for a live gig, with the accent on groove and dancing rather than nostalgic listening from a table. The organisers bill it as a night where generations who know the same choruses from different decades meet. How many cities in the region have a sound recognisable enough to build a whole concert programme around?
Doors at 22:00. A ticket costs 13 euros, about 801 denars, and a table reservation 20 euros, about 1,232 denars, through entrio.hr. Porat Club is at Stinice 59 in Split.
