Goran Vinčić Vinča, the comedian from Mirkovci in Slavonia who took stand-up all the way to arenas, brings his new show "Komedija je ozbiljna stvar" (Comedy Is Serious Business) to the Sloboda hotel in Šabac on 24 November at 8 pm. After "Dežurni krivac" (The Usual Suspect), this is completely new material, about a time that is funny and worrying at once.
Vinča started his first solo show "Dežurni krivac" in 2018, and the special of the same name reached around two million views on YouTube. He filmed his second special at a sold-out show in Belgrade's "Ranko Žeravica" hall. A solo show at Arena Zagreb is also announced for 21 December, which would make him the first local comedian to headline that venue alone.
The new show takes apart media chaos, injustice, generational clashes and the daily dose of madness that is becoming our normal. The visual identity is inspired by the painting "Stańczyk" by Polish painter Jan Matejko, in which the court jester is the only sober person in the room while the elite parties on. Vinča says comedy is entertainment until it steps on the truth's sore toe, and then it becomes serious business.
Tickets cost 1,600 dinars, about 840 denars, on tickets.rs and at Tickets outlets. Šabac is just an hour's drive west of Belgrade, and given how quickly Vinča fills venues, a small room like a hotel hall is a rare chance to see him up close.
