The tamburitza, that instrument which means as much to Vojvodina as the flatland itself, gets its own evening in Belgrade. The Gospoda Tamburasi orchestra performs on 21 October in the Blue Hall of Sava Centar - a concert dedicated to the music and lyrics that marked whole generations.

Gospoda Tamburasi is an ensemble whose members come from different parts of Vojvodina, united around a single idea - to pull the tamburitza out of the cliche of the kafana stereotype. The group formed organically over the years, and its name was given by Djordje Balasevic during the Epiphany Nights of 2020. They have collaborated with Balasevic since 2007, on concerts, in songs and in films - a bond that says a great deal about their standing on the scene.

What sets them apart is the breadth of their repertoire. Alongside traditional tamburitza and folk music, they play evergreens, pop songs and arrangements of classical works, all of it in their own manner. With a line-up of basprim, prim, kontra, cello, bass and vocals, they show that a tamburitza orchestra can be far more than accompaniment in a tavern.

The concert at Sava Centar starts at 8 PM, and tickets are available through tickets.rs. For an evening in which the sound of the tamburitza is lifted out of the stereotype and placed on a big stage, Gospoda Tamburasi are the right address.
