The Medimurje Oktoberfest takes over Sport Hub in Nedelisce on 3 and 4 October. The organisers are billing it as the biggest party in northern Croatia, with Frikovi and Polkaholici carrying the music.

The breweries pouring at the event are Lepi decki, Skoliber and Paulaner, while the food side merges Medimurje and Bavarian cooking. That is the whole point of this format: the Bavarian Oktoberfest is an export model, and every region adapts it to its own kitchen and its own beer instead of copying it word for word.

Medimurje is Croatia's northernmost county, sitting on the border with Slovenia and Hungary, which is exactly why the Central European tradition there is not an import but the logic of the place. Polka in that corner of Croatia is not exotica. It is music people actually listen to.

Tickets through entrio.hr top out at 10 euros, roughly 616 denars, which for a two-day event with a full music programme is one of the cheapest nights in the Croatian autumn calendar.
