Grandmaster Flash plays Zagreb's Boogaloo club on October 10. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and he takes the stage at 11 p.m., as part of the European tour "The Four Elements", dedicated to the four pillars of hip-hop culture: DJing, rap, breakdance and graffiti.

His name is synonymous with the genre's beginnings. He is one of the people who established DJing as an art form, and with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five he recorded "The Message", the song that took rap from the party to the street and to social commentary. Now he returns to a city he has already played, in a club the hip-hop crowd knows well.

The night has a local ace too. The opening programme is billed as "Zagreb Rap Demo (1985-1992)", featuring the pioneers of the Zagreb rap scene whose recordings were gathered on a cult compilation. DJs Slavin Balen and Fat Fili warm up the room. How many cities in the region remember their own eighties rap? Zagreb clearly does.

Tickets cost 25 euros (about 1,540 denars) plus fees, sold via entrio.hr. Boogaloo is on Ulica grada Vukovara in Zagreb, Croatia. The day before, on October 9, Grandmaster Flash plays Ljubljana.
