GTC in the Red Again: 300,000 Euros in Losses for 2025, Two Million on Salaries

The capital's landmark ran at a loss once again. The shareholders' assembly of the City Trade Centre (GTC) adopted the 2025 report, which shows the centre closed the year with a loss of around 300,000 euros, while spending close to 2 million euros on salaries.

The figures are concrete: total revenue for 2025 came to 268,929,218 denars, and expenditures outran it. For a building sitting in one of the busiest spots in Skopje, with a constant flow of people, this is a result that demands an explanation - because the location alone is a kind of capital few businesses have.

When a centre with such a position runs at a loss while spending two million euros on salaries, the question asks itself - where does the money go, and who answers for the result? The loss is no natural disaster; it is the result of decisions, or the absence of decisions.

For years GTC has balanced between public landmark and commercial building, and it is precisely that dual nature that most often serves as the excuse for weak results. But the shareholders, among them the state and the city, deserve more than an adopted report - they deserve a plan for how the landmark of Skopje stops being a loss item every year and becomes a source of income.
