Džinović was born in Sarajevo on September 26, 1951, which means the show lands exactly on his birthday. He has been active on stage since 1975, when he released his first single with the songs "Domovino" and "Želim tebe" - both of which he composed himself. That is the detail people routinely miss about him: he is not just a performer, but the author of the music and the lyrics.

His turning point came in 1981, when he founded the group Šar e Roma with the brothers Stevo, Branko and Ljubomir Pavlović. Unlike almost every folk singer of that era, they turned toward Roma music and put out three records by 1986 - "...Kao Cigani", "Kiko, kiko" and "Romske pjesme". Džinović then went solo and recorded an album carrying "Ostariću, neću znati", "I tebe sam sit kafano" and "Rano je za tugu", after which his popularity exploded and he was named singer of the year.

The war decade cut that trajectory short - he left Yugoslavia, first for Austria, then for France, where he tried to build a Western career. The Haris who came back is now a Balkan showbusiness institution, and a small restaurant hall in Topčider is a far more intimate format than the arena concerts he is used to.
