Aries

Today Aries won't interrupt their partner even once while the partner describes how their day at work went - and the story will last a full twenty minutes, with the names of every colleague. At the end, Aries will ask something about one of them. The partner will stop, look at them suspiciously and ask: "What do you want?" Aries doesn't want anything. They were just listening.

Taurus

Today Taurus will walk into the shop for bread and walk out with a toaster on sale - with four slots. There's no room for it at home. They'll put it on top of the fridge and spend the whole week pretending that was the plan all along.

Gemini

Today at work Gemini will finish one task completely before starting a second. Sounds minor. For Gemini it's a record.

Cancer

Today Cancer won't wait for the lift that's stuck between floors again, and will walk up to the fifth floor instead. On the third floor they'll stop to catch their breath and pretend to read the notices on the board. They'll arrive at the top out of breath, but with the feeling of having beaten the day before nine o'clock.

Leo

Today Leo will finally return the jacket they bought two weeks ago and never wore once. The shop assistant will ask why they're returning it, and Leo will tell the truth: "I liked it more in the window." The money will be back in their account by evening.

Virgo

Today Virgo will say "yes" to dinner with their partner's friends, even though the invitation arrives at six and the dinner is at seven. There won't be time to work out what to wear or what to say. They'll wear whatever they find and say whatever comes to mind. It will be the most relaxed evening of the autumn.

Libra

Today Libra won't answer the email the boss sends at ten at night. They'll answer tomorrow at nine, coffee in hand, in two sentences. The boss will reply "great, thanks" - as if they'd never expected anything else.

Scorpio

Today Scorpio will call their aunt just to ask how she is. The aunt will first panic that something has happened. Then they'll talk for forty minutes, and Scorpio will learn more about the family than at the last three family feast days.

Sagittarius

Today Sagittarius should leave the phone in their jacket during lunch. Just twenty minutes. They'll taste the food they eat every day and haven't noticed in months.

Capricorn

Today, while looking for the warranty for the cooker, Capricorn will find their first employment contract - with a salary that today wouldn't even cover the rent. They'll read it twice. Then they'll put it back in the box and, for the first time, admit to themselves that they've got further than they hoped.

Aquarius

Today Aquarius will accept the first price the repairman quotes for the washing machine. They won't ask another repairman for a second quote. The machine will be working again by evening, and Aquarius will save his number as "Repairman - doesn't haggle."

Pisces

Today Pisces will get a message from a friend they haven't spoken to since summer: "Where have you been?" They shouldn't answer with "oh, you know, work." They should suggest coffee tomorrow. How many friendships have already faded out on "oh, you know, work"?
