Maria Khoreva from the Mariinsky Theatre and Makar Mikhalkin, a principal of the Bolshoi ballet, dance at mts dvorana in Belgrade on September 20 from 19:00. The gala concert is titled „An Evening of Russian Ballet”.
The programme consists of well-known fragments from the classical repertoire: „Swan Lake”, „The Sleeping Beauty”, „Don Quixote” and „The Nutcracker”. That is the gala format, meaning pas de deux and variations lifted out of their ballets and lined up one after another, with no narrative tying them together. A format that shows technique directly, with no dramaturgical cover.
Khoreva and Mikhalkin come from the two houses that have defined the Russian ballet school for two centuries, the Mariinsky in Saint Petersburg and the Bolshoi in Moscow. Mikhalkin has performed in Belgrade before, at Sava Centar, in a gala concert of the Bolshoi's principal and soloists with musicians of the Belgrade Philharmonic under the baton of Alexey Bogorad.
The concert was originally scheduled for June 28 at the „Vlada Divljan” Culture Centre, but was moved to September 20 and relocated to the larger mts dvorana. Tickets are via tickets.rs.
