Mats Levén, one of the most recognisable voices in contemporary rock and metal, performs on September 12, 2026 at the „Moderen teatar” club in Burgas, together with the Bulgarian singer Tsena Koev. Doors at 21:00, and the number of tickets is limited.
The Swedish singer began his career in 1986 in the bands Swedish Erotica and Treat, and his first global breakthrough came in 1997 when he joined guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for the album „Facing The Animal” and the promotional tour. In late 2003 the symphonic metal band Therion called him in to record the albums „Lemuria” and „Sirius B”. In 2012 he became the singer of doom metal band Candlemass, first as a session member in place of Robert Lowe, and then as permanent frontman. He also performs as a touring member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and under the name Skyblood he released his first solo album.
Tsena Koev has worked and recorded with names such as Jeff Scott Soto, Snowy Shaw and Mike Portnoy. The two will perform material from their own careers plus duets, with a backing band of Leonardo Porcheddu on guitar, Lyubomir Tsvetanov on piano, Anton Piperov on bass and Nick Nikolaev on drums.
The „Moderen teatar” club in Burgas has operated since 1927 and is a long way from the big arenas where Levén has sung across Europe, Asia and America. That is exactly the point of this show - a voice that filled halls, in a room seating a few hundred. Tickets are around 20 euros via bilet.bg, roughly 1,232 denars.
