Meri Cetinić sings at Teatar uz more in Split on August 29, 2026, starting at 8.30 pm. The concert is titled „S rukom za ruku s Meri” and takes place on the summer stage on the Poljud promenade, a few metres from the water, which for her repertoire is no accidental decoration.

Cetinić was born on June 15, 1953 in Split, with roots in Blato on Korčula. She completed the „Josip Hatze” music secondary school and the Pedagogical Academy, music department, in Split. In 1972, together with Slobodan Kovačević, she founded the group More, in which she sang until the end of 1978, when she went solo. In a career spanning more than forty years she has released twenty-three albums and eighteen singles, and that figure alone says this is an author, not merely a performer.

What makes her recognisable is the way she crosses Dalmatian traditional melody with soul, jazz and pop. It is a combination many have tried and most have stumbled on, because the usual result is a tourist version of both sides. With Cetinić it works because the composing is hers. The hits „More”, „Konoba”, „Samo simpatija”, „U prolazu” and „Potraži me u predgrađu” are part of the standard repertoire of Croatian popular music, and „Mornareva žena” and „Probudi moju ljubav” have held that line for decades.

Teatar uz more is an open summer stage in Split, and Cetinić's concerts there regularly sell out. Tickets are sold through entrio.hr, with numbered seats. For an audience holidaying on the central Adriatic, this is one of the rare chances to hear someone who wrote that music, not only sings it.
