Minor Earthquake This Morning Near Tetovo: No Material Damage

In the early morning hours of March 3, 2026, seismologists registered an earthquake near Tetovo. The tremor of magnitude 2.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 05:21, with its epicenter located approximately 9 kilometers southwest of Tetovo, in the western part of Macedonia.

The depth of the focus was 5 kilometers, which is relatively shallow. The registration was confirmed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). An earthquake of small magnitude is characterized by typically not causing material damage, but it may be felt by residents in the immediate vicinity of the epicenter.

At the time of reporting, no property damage or injured persons were reported. Seismic activity in western Macedonia has been recorded before, and tremors of similar magnitude are occasionally registered in the region.
