Newly appointed Iranian Supreme Leader Motaba Khamenei addressed the nation for the first time following his selection. The statement was read on Iranian television rather than being delivered directly - a fact that triggered speculation about his reported serious injuries.

Khamenei called for national unity and announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed in order to exert pressure on Iran's adversaries. He stated that Iran will continue with attacks on US military bases in the region.

"We believe in friendship with our neighbors, we only target bases and will continue to do so," Khamenei stated, adding: "In any case, we will seek compensation from the enemy, and if he refuses, we will seize their assets in the required amounts, or if that is impossible, we will destroy them in an equivalent manner."

Khamenei emphasized that accountability is sought for every martyr, noting that the response goes beyond merely the death of his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He specifically mentioned attacks on schools, characterizing them as crimes requiring special accounting.

"We will definitely obtain compensation from our enemy. If he refuses, I will seize their assets accordingly, or will destroy equivalent property," warned the new Iranian leader, signaling that Tehran does not plan to concede despite losses.
