While the big festivals fight over stadiums and sponsors, Bulgaria's biggest underground electronic festival hides where there is no signal - literally. No Signal Festival runs from August 14 to 16 in the Tazha Gorge, a ravine deep in the Stara Planina range, where the mobile network vanishes and only the bass remains.

This year the festival arrives with its strongest international lineup yet. The drum and bass stages line up names the genre knows by heart: Billain from Bosnia, the British-Russian duo Magnetude, Charli Tee, Sustance, Cooh4Concern, Cooh (COOH) and L33 from Bulgaria, plus Insom from Greece. The hard stage is held down by the Dutch acts Outside Agency and BOERI, while the program stretches across several stages with dozens of performers from all over Europe.

What sets No Signal apart is not just the lineup, but the location. A gorge in the mountains creates natural acoustics and an atmosphere no hall can offer - forest, rock and sky instead of concrete and advertising banners.
