Dutch death metal veterans Pestilence play their first headline concert in Bulgaria on October 15, 2026. The show is at Sofia's Pri Cherepite (Oldskulls) club at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Entering the Portals tour.
The band was founded in the Netherlands in 1986 and went from thrash metal roots to become one of the most influential names in technical and progressive death metal, on the same scene as Death, Cynic and Atheist. Founder and guitarist Patrick Mameli has been the driving force for almost four decades.
The classics "Consuming Impulse" (1989) and "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) made them cult figures, and the experimental "Spheres" (1993) pushed the genre's boundaries with synth guitars and jazz influences. After the split and the comeback came "Hadeon" (2018) and "Exitivm" (2021), and the band is now preparing the new studio album "Portals".
The night is warmed up by Bulgarians Concrete, with death metal, and Phantom, with melodic death metal. Tickets on bilet.bg cost 20 to 35 euros, roughly 1,230 to 2,160 denars.
