Berlin band Plattenbau play KC Grad in Belgrade on November 23 at 21:00. Tickets are around 790 denars.

The name means prefab apartment block in German, and the band formed in Berlin in 2011, inspired precisely by the brutalist architecture of the city's eastern half. The association is not decorative: the sound is cold, repetitive and urban, built on robotic drums, gothic bass lines and paranoid synths, with a deep, dark vocal over all of it.

The line-up is international and currently features Luis Lloyd on vocals and synth, Sally Brown on bass and vocals, Brendan Walsh on drums and Jesper Munk on guitar and synth. The debut album "Plattenbau" came out in March 2016. It was followed by "Shape/Shifting" in 2022 and "Net Prophet" in September 2023, both on Deadstrange, the label run by Oliver Ackermann of A Place to Bury Strangers. The most recent album, "CURSED" from 2025, is their heaviest to date.

Critics regularly reach for the comparison to the soundtrack of a horror film shot on VHS in the nineties. That description is accurate enough to tell you whether the genre is for you.

KC Grad is a venue in Savamala that has long carried concerts of this profile in Belgrade. The same autumn brings Moonlee, Lupercalians and Calibro 35 to the same room. Tickets through tickets.rs.
