The Zagreb club Katran holds the second edition of its festival Rikverc on October 10. The name is the colloquial word for reverse gear, and the programme literally drives backwards: it starts in the 2020s and works its way back through the hits of the last four decades, six hours non-stop.

Katran sits in a former building-materials factory near the main bus station and has four dancefloors with different music. That is also the Rikverc format: each decade gets its own floor and its own DJ. The 2020s are run by DJ Goc, with Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish and Jakov Jozinović. The 2010s belong to DJ Samo Marac, with The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars and Avicii. The 2000s are spun by DJ Indi, from Eminem and Beyoncé to Gibonni, Nina Badrić and Elemental. The nineties are closed out by DJ Extended, with Nirvana, the Spice Girls, Tupac, Dino Dvornik and Magazin.

This is not a festival with bands but a club night on a big scale. The crowd picks its own decade, and can do all four in one night. How many clubs in the region have a space that allows four different nights under one roof?

The programme runs from 23:00 to 5 in the morning, and entry is for adults only. Presale tickets on entrio.hr cost 8 euros, about 493 denars, and regular ones 11 euros, about 678 denars. Tables are booked via Katran's Instagram profile.
