Night Strikes on Kyiv and Odesa: Moscow Claims It Hit a Missile Systems Plant, a Data Centre and a Nova Poshta Warehouse - No Confirmation From the Other Side

The Russian Ministry of Defence announced it had carried out strikes overnight on facilities in the Kyiv and Odesa regions, using "high-precision airborne weapons" and attack drones. The targets, according to Moscow, are facilities tied to the production and storage of equipment for the Ukrainian army, to logistics, and to the processing of intelligence data. Local reports confirm only one thing: thick clouds of smoke rose over parts of Kyiv after the strikes.

That phrase "according to Moscow" will repeat in every paragraph, and not by accident. The entire list of struck facilities comes from one side, while the other is so far silent on the details. So this is a story about claims, not about confirmed facts.

A warehouse, a plant and a data centre

In Boyarka, in the Kyiv region, the Russian statement says a warehouse of the company Fire Point was hit, containing - Moscow claims - drone parts and launch boosters. In Kyiv itself, the Radionix radio-electronics plant was struck, which the Russian ministry says produced missile guidance systems - among them Flamingo, Neptune, FP-7 and FP-9. How many people were inside at the moment of the strike and how much production was damaged, nobody has said.

The third target in Kyiv is the Bi-Mobile data centre, which according to Russia provided storage, processing and transmission of intelligence data and network equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces. If that is so, the strike is aimed at the nervous system of the Ukrainian military. But there is no independent confirmation that the centre was destroyed, nor any precise data on the consequences.

A postal company as a military target

In the Odesa region, Moscow claims, a logistics centre of Nova Poshta was hit - one of Ukraine's largest logistics firms, with a vast network of warehouses and distribution centres across the country. Russia claims that this particular facility was used for storing and distributing military cargo. There is no confirmation of what the facility was being used for at the time of the attack. In the same series of strikes, the Russian ministry says, a cargo ship in the port of Odesa was also hit, allegedly having previously delivered military cargo. On the type of cargo, the damage and any casualties - not a word.

And here is the detail everyone in the Balkans should sit with: a courier company, the one that brings you your parcel from an online shop, declared a military target by a single press release. If the logic is that any warehouse through which military cargo has passed becomes a legitimate target, then every warehouse is a target. Does anyone here ever think about where "civilian" infrastructure ends in a scenario like that?

Kyiv is under smoke after the night, Ukrainian services are assessing the damage, and there is no data on civilian casualties so far. Russia, for its part, endured the largest drone attack on Moscow to date that same night. Two capitals woke up to fires - and the only complete version of events, from either side, is the one written by the defence ministries.
