Rebel in Ohrid gets one of the biggest names ever to pass through a Macedonian club. Sasha, the man who has defined progressive house for decades, plays on July 25 from 9 pm at the Biljanini Izvori sports and recreation centre, in a format billed as an extended set - a longer performance than the standard club slot.

Behind the stage name Sasha stands Alexander Paul Coe, a DJ and producer from Wales. His place in the history of electronic music is not a matter of taste but of fact: together with John Digweed he made „Renaissance: The Mix Collection”, the first major commercially released studio DJ mix. That format is the standard today, but someone had to make it first. In 2002 he released the album „Airdrawndagger” through Kinetic Records, co-produced by Charlie May, Junkie XL and James Holden. Since 2011 he has run his own digital label Last Night On Earth, and the latest solo album „Da Vinci Genius” came out in November 2024.

What makes this show more interesting than an ordinary guest slot is the format itself. An extended set means the DJ gets room to build - to move from setting the atmosphere toward a peak, instead of lunging at the hits to avoid losing the crowd within an hour. Sasha is known for exactly that: sets that read as a whole rather than as a run of individual tracks. With an artist of this discography, the difference between one hour and three behind the booth is not quantity but an entirely different experience.
