"The Sleeping Beauty", one of the most famous ballets in the world, will be performed in Belgrade on September 19 at Sava Centar. For lovers of classical ballet this is a chance to see one of the greatest works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in a lavish stage production.
"The Sleeping Beauty" is a ballet in three acts with music by Tchaikovsky, first performed in 1890 in Saint Petersburg. Together with "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker", it is part of the trio of ballets by the Russian composer that remain the foundation of the classical ballet repertoire around the world. The story of Princess Aurora, the evil fairy Carabosse and the good fairy who turns the curse into sleep is one of the best-known fairy tales turned into ballet.
Tchaikovsky's music for this ballet is considered one of his most valuable scores - rich, melodic and symphonic in scope, with the famous waltz that travelled far beyond the ballet halls. The lavish set design, costumes and classical choreography make this event appealing even to audiences who don't regularly go to the ballet.
Tickets run from around 2,105 denars and are available via tickets.rs. The performance is at Sava Centar in Belgrade, in the evening hours.
