Sojuz play the Karmakoma club in Belgrade on September 26 at 20:00. Tickets are around 1,160 denars.
The collective comes out of Minsk, founded there by multi-instrumentalists Alex Chumak and Mikita Arlou. After the move to Warsaw in 2022, Polish musicians Albert Karch on drums and Igor Wiśniewski on guitar joined the line-up. The name means union, pointing both to the collaboration between the members and to the project's double identity. In the studio, Chumak is composer, arranger and artistic director.
The breakthrough came with the album "Force of the Wind", the first released by the British label Mr Bongo. It is heavily marked by the Brazilian MPB tradition, with guest appearances from Kate NV and Sessa, and was picked among the best albums of 2022 by Bandcamp. It has been played on BBC Radio, France's FIP, NTS and Worldwide FM.
In 2024 two international collaborations arrived: "Spring has sprung" with the Indian-American icon Asha Puthli and the Swedish composer Sven Wunder, and "Kali ty zapytaesh", a pop single in Belarusian. The fourth album, "KROK", which means step in Belarusian, came out in October 2025 on Mr Bongo.
The combination of Belarusian lyrics, Brazilian rhythm and jazz arrangements is not a niche with much competition in it. Connected Agency is the organiser, and tickets are through tickets.rs.
