As part of the 66th edition of the Ohrid Summer, on August 6, 2026, a candlelit concert takes place in the courtyard of the „St. Sofia“ church in Ohrid, featuring a top name from the world of the violin - Stefan Milenković, accompanied by the „Profundis“ Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Đurđica Dašić.
Milenković is no accidental guest on a stage like this. The Serbian violinist played his first solo performance at the age of six and held his 1000th concert at just 16 in Mexico. He performed before Pope John Paul II, before Mikhail Gorbachev, and in the 1993-1994 period he won prizes at ten international violin competitions. Trained at Juilliard in New York under the legendary Dorothy DeLay, today he is the artistic director of the concert hall in Novi Sad and a professor of violin.
The setting of this concert is part of its appeal. The candles, the stone of „St. Sofia“ and the sound of a chamber orchestra create an evening that is hard to reproduce in a standard concert hall. „Profundis“ is a Macedonian chamber ensemble with a reputation, and pairing it with a violin of Milenković's rank promises a programme worthy of the anniversary edition of the oldest Macedonian festival.
Tickets cost 600 denars through karti.com.mk, and the concert starts at 21:00. For lovers of classical music in Ohrid this summer, it is hard to find a more fitting evening.
