A paper certificate from the faculty, a queue at the ticket office, a stamp to validate it - for students in Skopje, that ritual is heading into history. JSP Skopje, the city's public transport company, backed by the City of Skopje and working with Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, is introducing a digital student transport card for free public transport.

The card will be valid for students at the state universities in Skopje, including Mother Teresa University. Student status data will sync automatically between JSP and the universities, so there'll be no need for certificates or a trip to the ticket office.

Students will receive instructions by email and activate the card through the SkopjeBus app, using the same email address they registered with at their faculty. In the app, the card will carry a QR code used to validate each ride. As for the exact activation process, JSP says students will be informed in good time.

At last, one institution has figured out that the data can travel instead of the person. If two institutions can exchange information without a stamp and a counter window, why does the rest of the administration still make us carry paper from one building to another?
