American death metal band Suffocation plays Mixtape 5 in Sofia on October 10, 2026. Doors to the A-stage open at 7 p.m. The occasion is 35 years since the debut album "Effigy of the Forgotten".
The band from Long Island, New York, is among the founders of what is now called brutal death metal. "Effigy of the Forgotten" came out on October 22, 1991 and, with its abrupt tempo changes, down-tuned guitars and heavy breakdowns, became a textbook for whole generations of extreme bands. Few metal albums have so many direct descendants.
Today's line-up is led by guitarist Terrance Hobbs, the only member from the classic era. With him are bassist Derek Boyer, guitarist Charlie Errigo, vocalist Ricky Myers and John Longstreth on drums for the tour. Guests on the night are Britain's Ingested, America's Undeath and Eternal. The same tour of southern and eastern Europe also passes through Belgrade.
Tickets on bilet.bg cost 25 to 40 euros, roughly 1,540 to 2,460 denars. The event is 18+, and the club doesn't take reservations.
