Miloš Teodosić returns to Red Star - this time not on the court, but behind the desk. The Belgrade club appoints its legend as the new sporting director, just a year after the end of his playing career.
Teodosić ended his career in 2025, after 21 years of professional basketball, the last two of which he spent precisely at Red Star. Now a new chapter begins - and, typically for him, without big words.
„First of all, I would like to thank the club for the trust it has shown me," Teodosić said in the official statement. „I am opening a new chapter after my playing career, in which I will devote all my abilities to Red Star. It was never my style to make promises or to use the words everyone wants to hear."
The rhetoric is modest, but the biography is not. EuroLeague MVP in 2010, EuroLeague champion in 2016, six selections to the competition's ideal five and three silver medals with the Serbian national team. Many consider him one of the best playmakers in the history of European basketball - a player who read the court like few others.
„There is not much to talk about - we need to work. A big task lies ahead of us," he said, stressing that hard work will be the foundation of the new role. „My goal is to leave behind deeds that will be remembered in the history of Red Star."
The move from the court to the office rarely goes smoothly - many great players stumbled the moment they sat in the manager's chair. But Teodosić carries something that cannot be bought: knowledge of the club from the inside and connections throughout the whole basketball world. Whether that is enough for results, the coming season will show - not the statement.
