Victor Ruiz, one of the most in-demand techno producers on the world scene, plays Rebel in Ohrid on August 2, 2026. A ticket costs 500 denars, which for an artist with his calendar is a figure worth pointing out.
Ruiz was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and today lives in Portugal. He has been present on the international scene continuously since 2012, with early releases on labels like Noir Music and Suara, and then on Drumcode - Adam Beyer's house, which in techno means roughly the highest possible endorsement. Beyond Drumcode he has also released for mau5trap, Arcane, Insomniac and Armada. He runs his own label VOLTA, which was among the ten best-selling techno labels in a single year.
What makes Ruiz recognisable to audiences is not only the original productions but also his unofficial reworks of classic songs, which he plays regularly in his sets. Among the best known are his versions of „Breathe” by The Prodigy, „Children” by Robert Miles, „Everything Counts” by Depeche Mode in collaboration with Thomas Schumacher, and the rework of Massive Attack's „Teardrop”. It is a move that rarely comes off for a techno DJ without ending in cheap nostalgia, and with him it works because the reworks are rebuilt from the ground up rather than pasted over the original.
His list of appearances contains almost every festival that means anything in the genre: Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Time Warp, EDC Las Vegas, Lollapalooza, Boom and Fusion. Tickets are sold through karti.com.mk, and the event is at Rebel, the club at Biljanini Izvori that carries the densest electronic programme in Ohrid this summer.
