Looking for more events? The full calendar of concerts and events in Macedonia and the region is in one place.
Vladimir Četkar plays on Friday, October 16, from 21:00, at the Belgrade club "Bluz i pivo" ("Blues and Beer") at Cetinjska 15. He comes with his Jazz, Soul and Funk Ensemble, and for Macedonian audiences it is a concert by a musician from Ohrid who is building his career out of New York.
Četkar was born in Ohrid, where he played violin as a child. He moved to the US to study at Berklee College of Music, with jazz guitar as his main instrument, and today lives in New York as a guitarist, singer, composer, arranger and producer. His albums "We Will Never End", "Heavenly" and "Going Home" came out on labels such as P-Vine in Japan and Expansion Records in the UK.
He built his sound on bands and musicians like Change, Chic, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patrice Rushen, George Benson and Wes Montgomery. He has played festivals such as Sziget in Hungary, Java Jazz in Jakarta, Jarasum in South Korea and the Hong Kong jazz festival, and in the region Nišville and Ohrid Summer. How many Macedonians know that one of the voices of today's jazz-funk comes from Ohrid?
Tickets cost 2,400 dinars (about 1,260 denars) and are on sale at tickets.rs.
