The Heraclea Ancient Theatre in Bitola gets an evening devoted to Macedonian song on July 29. Vlatko Miladinoski, one of the most emotive voices on the home scene, performs accompanied by his brother Zlatko Miladinoski's orchestra, starting at 9 p.m.
Miladinoski was born in Bitola and raised in Kičevo, and he belongs to that strain of Macedonian singers who live off traditional and newly composed song rather than the passing fashions of the pop circuit. Over the years he gathered a repertoire the diaspora carries with it - his hit „Belaja ne nema" long ago grew into a symbol for Macedonians around the world. He trained at the music faculties in Skopje and Štip, and he comes to the stage as much an instrumentalist as a singer: he plays piano, tambura, and guitar.
The choice of Heraclea is no accident. The stone ancient stage in Bitola is one of the rare places where Macedonian song sounds the way it should - no roof, under open sky, with natural acoustics two thousand years old. Zlatko Miladinoski's orchestra brings a live, orchestral arrangement instead of a playback, which for this kind of repertoire makes all the difference.
Tickets are on sale through mktickets.mk, and information and reservations are available on 077 611 669. The concert starts at 9 p.m. at the Heraclea Ancient Theatre in Bitola.
