VMRO-DPMNE accused the former SDSM government of granting Macedonian citizenship to Russian oligarch Alexander Onishchenko, who is on an international wanted list and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for money laundering.

According to the ruling party, the former SDSM administration allowed Onishchenko to acquire a Macedonian passport despite being prosecuted abroad. The case is part of a series of accusations VMRO-DPMNE levels at the previous government regarding the questionable granting of citizenship to foreign nationals.
