Yngwie Malmsteen in Sofia on July 15 - the Swedish Neoclassical Metal Guitarist and Architect of the Shredder School at JOY Station

Ingvi Malmstin vo Sofija na 15 juli

Yngwie Malmsteen, the Swedish guitarist who founded the neoclassical metal school and one of the most recognisable shredder names in the genre, comes to Sofia on July 15, 2026. The concert will take place at JOY Station, as part of his world tour.

Malmsteen (born Lars Johan Yngwie Lambert Malmsten in 1963 in Stockholm) broke through in the early eighties with the solo debut Rising Force (1984) - one of the most recognisable guitar albums of the decade, which introduced the baroque metal style. The influences of Paganini and Bach were transposed into electric guitar solos at astonishing speed. With 22 studio albums and an estimated 3 million records sold, he is one of the key guitar names in metal - an influence on Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and thousands of other guitarists.

The setlist usually covers Far Beyond the Sun, Black Star, I'm a Viking, Trilogy Suite and material from the latest albums, with long solo passages where Malmsteen showcases his technical ability. JOY Station is a club with a capacity of around 1,500.

Tickets are available through eventim.bg at 99 leva. The concert starts at 20:00 on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. For Macedonian fans of classic metal guitar, this is one of the key dates in the neighbourhood right now.
