The Zagreb Philharmonic, under the baton of David Runtz, their chief conductor since 2021, will perform at Donji Saraj in Ohrid on August 10. The concert starts at 21:30 and is part of the 66th edition of Ohrid Summer, the oldest classical festival in Macedonia.

The Zagreb Philharmonic is the central Croatian classical institution with more than a century of tradition - it has officially carried the name since October 3, 1920. Concerts are regularly held at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall and at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Under Runtz the orchestra has expanded its European touring and records for several international labels, including Navona Records.

David Runtz is simultaneously the principal conductor of the Polish Royal Opera. In 2022 he received the Croatian Orlando Award for artistic achievement, given by HRT and the Ministry of Culture. His contract has been extended to June 2027, meaning this falls in the middle of his second tenure season at the head of the orchestra. Critics describe him as a conductor with precise technique, control over complex scores, and pronounced stage communication.

Donji Saraj is one of the four main stages of Ohrid Summer - a chamber-scale location in the old Ohrid bazaar with natural acoustics shaped by the history of the site. Tickets are sold through mktickets.mk at 600 denars apiece. The program is part of the festival's classical cycle.
