800 Kids Ran Through Bitola: Mini Trcaj be Is Growing Into a Real Sporting Event

Sometimes the best story is the most ordinary one. Bitola's promenade hosted the fourth edition of the children's race "Mini Trcaj be", with more than 800 kids taking part - from Bitola and from cities across Macedonia. Medals, grins and a podium where the smallest ones feel like champions.

The mayor of Bitola, Toni Konjanovski, said events like this prove the city's future is moving in the right direction and that children are Bitola's real heroes. Politicians hand out lines like that cheaply, but in this case the picture backs up the words - 800 running kids are not a photo op staged for a press conference, but a real event the city has now organised four years running.

And that is exactly the point worth noting in a country where the writing tends to be only about what does not work. A regular children's race that grows year after year into a recognisable sporting fixture is precisely what a city needs - continuity, movement and a reason for kids to be outdoors instead of in front of a screen. Not every story has to be a scandal. Sometimes it is enough for 800 kids to run through the centre for the day to come out better than yesterday's.
