On September 11, the garden of Dorćol Plac in Belgrade comes alive with the sound of one of the great soul icons of the century - The Amy Winehouse Band, Amy Winehouse's original band, arrives with a concert as part of the tour marking 20 years of the album „Back to Black". For an audience that grew up on those songs, this is the closest chance to hear them played by the musicians who stood beside her.
The band is led by Dale Davis, Amy Winehouse's long-time musical director and bassist, and is made up of the very musicians who played with her on stage and in the studio - among them guitarist Xavi Gondwe, drummer Nathan Allen and trumpeter Henry Collins. The vocal parts are performed by Bronte Shande. The tour marks the twentieth anniversary of „Back to Black", the 2006 album that turned Winehouse from a British talent into a global phenomenon and won her five Grammy Awards at the 2008 ceremony, making her the first British woman to win that many awards in a single night.
At the concert the band performs „Back to Black" in full, along with other classics from the Winehouse repertoire - „Rehab", „Valerie", „You Know Im No Good" and the rest of the songs that defined her short but indelible career. This is not a tribute by other performers, but a return to the original sound with the living authors of that sound.
The concert in the garden of Dorćol Plac starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale through tickets.rs. For soul and jazz fans in Macedonia, Belgrade is the closest point where this exceptional act stops on tour.
